The Texas Address Confidentiality Program is designed to help keep the residential addresses of victims of family violence, sexual assault and abuse, stalking, or trafficking of persons, confidential. The Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) is administered by the Attorney General of Texas, and provides a substitute post office box address and free mail forwarding service for participants.
If you participate in the Address Confidentiality Program, you can use your substitute address for:
- Your driver license or identification card address
- Voter and school registrations
- Most court and government documents
Changing Your Address on Your DL or ID
If you participate in the Address Confidentiality Program and want to change your address on your driver license or identification card, you must:
- Complete the application
- Schedule an appointment at your local driver license office. If you have an appointment, you may be able to get in line before arriving. Locate the office nearest you
- Present your ACP authorization card and your change of address application
- Pay the application fee
If you do not participate but are interested in this program, you must meet with a local domestic violence shelter, sexual assault center, or law enforcement or prosecution staff member to discuss a safety plan and learn more about the enrollment process. After your application is approved, you will receive an authorization card with a substitute post office box address.
