Overview
The SWIC office is the central coordination point for communications interoperability in Texas. The SWIC works with emergency responders across local, regional, Tribal, state and federal levels of government to implement a statewide vision for interoperability.
Responsibilities of the SWIC Office
- Update the Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP) and SCIP program management
- Coordinate statewide interoperability and communications projects, training and communications exercises
- Head the Texas Interoperable Communications Coalition (TxICC) and its governance structure
- Provide interoperability outreach, establish working groups to develop and push out key initiatives
- Act as Texas' single point of contact (SPOC) for First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet)
- Oversight of the Texas Public Safety Broadband Program
