1. How do I order a driver record?

To order your driver record, you have two options:  online or by mail.

To order by mail, you will need to complete and mail the Application for Copy of Driver Record (DR-1).  Mail orders can take up to three weeks for delivery.

2. I was charged twice for my driver record; how do I request a refund?

For assistance with payment issues, email our E-Commerce Section.   Include your contact information and a brief explanation of the error; a representative will respond within 2 to 3 business days.

3. I do not have my audit number, and I need to submit my driver record to the court as soon as possible. What can I do?

To obtain you driver record, without your audit number:

  • Request by mail:  Complete the Application for Copy of Driver Record (DR-1), include the necessary fee, and mail both to the address specified on the form. Mail orders can take up to three weeks for delivery.
  • Contact the court:  To request more time to obtain your driver record, contact the court directly to ask for an extension.

4. There is a crash on my driver record that is not supposed to be there. How can I get it removed?

To dispute a crash mistakenly listed on your driver record and request its removal, contact the Texas Department of Transportation, Crash Records Information System at (800) 558-9368.

5. There is a drug or DWI conviction on my record that isn't supposed to be there. How do I get that resolved?

To correct a conviction reported to the Department, you must contact the specific court that filed the original report and request they issue a correction.

You may need to provide the court with evidence or documentation proving that you are not the individual in question.

Once the Department receives the official correction notice from the court, allow 21 business days for your record to be updated.

6. Which type of driver record do I need to order for defensive driving?

While most courts generally require a Type 3A driver record, you must contact the specific court directly to confirm the exact record type needed for your individual case.

7. What is the password to print my driver record online?

The password required to print your driver record online is your driver license number.
