Special Conditions: Protective Order/At-Risk

Note: The following identification requirements apply to all applicants:

  • Applicants born abroad must provide a Lawful Presence document.
  • If you do not have a Texas Driver License (DL) or ID you will be required to submit:
    • Form LTC-6 with a signature and color "passport-style" photo
    • Copy of your non-expired DL or ID

Handgun Training Certificate - LTC-104 (received from a LTC Handgun Instructor or Online Course Provider (OCP) upon course completion).

Important Note: Range instruction and handgun proficiency demonstration MUST be completed with a LTC Handgun instructor. 

Fingerprints – LTC Fingerprint Information

Must be over the age of 21.

Must provide one the following documents displaying your status as a person under a protective order or your status as a member of a protected person’s household or family:

  • A temporary restraining order or temporary injunction issued under Subchapter F, Chapter 6, Family Code;
  • A temporary ex parte order issued under Chapter 83, Family Code;
  • A protective order issued under Chapter 85, Family Code;
  • A protective order issued under Chapter 7B, Code of Criminal Procedure; or
  • A magistrate's order for emergency protection issued under Article 17.292, Code of Criminal Procedure; or
  • The person participates in the address confidentiality program under Subchapter B, Chapter 58, Code of Criminal Procedure.
     
  • NOTE:  If you are providing a protective order as a member of a person’s household or family and are not listed on the documents, additional documents demonstrating your relationship to the protected person may be required.

Protective Order

Must provide: Active Protective Order under Title 4 Family Code or SubA, Ch 7B code of criminal procedure or Active Magistrate's order for emergency protection.

NOTE:  This license will expire on the expiration date of the supporting document submitted or on your 22nd birthday, whichever occurs first.
