HOWARD COUNTY – In an ongoing effort to combat violent and felonious crime, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), in coordination with multiple local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, conducted a two-day Targeted Violent Crime Operation (TVCO) on April 17 and 18 in Howard County.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added Christopher Domingo Carrillo – a convicted and repeat child sex predator – to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders List. Texas Crime Stoppers is now offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking information in the 1997 murder of 22-year-old Brent Alan Gutheinz in rural Grayson Co. The reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for his murder is now increased to $6,000 if the tip is received before the next featured Texas Rangers cold case is announced.

BIG SPRING – On April 2, 2026, the Texas Rangers, in coordination with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Howard County resident Andres Perches, 31, in connection with the murder of missing person Amanda Bates, 39.

AUSTIN – Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Jacarlos Mark is this month’s Featured Fugitive. The reward for information leading to his arrest is increased to $4,000 during April if the tip is received this month.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase patrols beginning this weekend to ensure drivers stay focused and avoid distractions. From April 6 through April 13, the Texas Highway Patrol (THP) will conduct its annual Distracted Driving traffic enforcement campaign – looking for drivers who are texting, failing to Move Over or Slow down or are otherwise distracted behind the wheel.
