AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is increasing patrols statewide as part of its annual All-American Enforcement Campaign ahead of the Memorial Day holiday. From May 11 to May 25, the Texas Highway Patrol (THP) will focus on enforcing seat belt laws and promoting safe driving behaviors to reduce crashes and save lives.

EL PASO CO. – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) made three felony arrests – including two confirmed gang members – after a high-speed pursuit and search warrant at a residence in El Paso Co. on Monday.

AUSTIN – Using modern forensic testing, law enforcement has identified the man they believe is responsible for the brutal 1986 rape and murder of 16-year-old Deanna Ogg in Montgomery Co. After four decades of investigation, Bobby Charles Taylor Sr., now 60, was located and arrested in Mexico City, Mexico, on an unrelated felony charge and then extradited to Texas to face charges late last month.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is pleased to announce it has secured federal grant money awarded to the State of Texas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The funds aim to strengthen public safety and aviation security efforts through new drone mitigation technology. DPS has been awarded approximately $3.2 million to acquire advanced technology designed to detect and mitigate unauthorized or potentially dangerous drone activity.

AUSTIN – Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Hassan Haitham Muhsen is this month’s Featured Fugitive. The reward for information leading to his arrest is increased to $6,000 during May if the tip is received this month. The U.S. Marshals Service is also offering an additional reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Muhsen’s arrest.

BELTON – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Texas Highway Patrol (THP) working in conjunction with the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (Army CID) and the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, conducted a three-day human trafficking operation in Bell County targeting individuals attempting to solicit sex online.

LAREDO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), during Operation Lone Star, seized 460 pounds of marijuana following a high-speed pursuit in Starr Co. last week.

AUSTIN – Yesterday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) held a grand opening for its new Mounted Patrol Unit (MPU) Equine Facility in Coupland, Texas, and welcomed its newest riders during a graduation ceremony. The Coupland facility is critical to maintaining a high standard of training and operational readiness for the MPU.
