1. If I have smoke tint or spray tint, on any or all of my stop lamps, will I fail inspection?

Yes, any lamp lens that is painted, discolored, or has any tint applied over the lens will be cause to fail inspection.

2. What if I tint over my interior rear window that does not cut around the center high mounted stop lamp, will this fail inspection?

No, if it is visible from 300 feet, this will not be cause to fail inspection.

3. If my stop lamps are not visible from 300 feet, will I fail inspection?

Yes, this will be cause to fail the inspection.

4. If I have LED lights that are out, will I fail inspection?

If more than 50% of your LED lamplights are not working, that is cause to fail vehicle inspection.

5. I have an older model jeep that does not have a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp. How will this pass inspection?

All jeeps, model year 1994 or newer are manufactured with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp. If any modifications are made, the vehicle must be equipped with an additional lamp of the same type, which meets all applicable requirements, including the visibility requirements.

6. Will I fail inspection if I have a dealer-installed backhoe that covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp?

Yes, if snowplows, wrecker booms, backhoes, and winches cover the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, the vehicle must be equipped with an additional lamp of the same type, which meets all applicable requirements, including the visibility requirements.

7. If my headache rack covers my vehicle's Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will I fail inspection?

Yes, if the headache rack covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, the vehicle (or the headache rack) must be equipped with an additional lamp of the same type, which meets all applicable requirements, including the visibility requirements.

8. If my headache rack covers my vehicle's Center High Mounted Stop Lamp but comes equipped with its own Center High Mounted Stop Lamp,will I pass inspection?

Yes, if the headache rack covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp but comes equipped with the same type of lamp, which meets the applicable requirements including the visibility requirements, this will not be cause to fail inspection.

9. If my headache rack covers my vehicles’ Center High Mounted Stop Lamp; however, comes equipped with two stop lamps, one located on the left and onelocated on the right side of the rack, but not in the center; will I fail inspection?

Yes, it will be cause to fail inspection; left and right mounted stop lamps are not a substitute for the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp. The Center High Mounted Stop Lamp should be located on the vertical centerline as viewed from the rear.

10. Will I fail inspection if I cover my rear spoiler with equipment that covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp?

Yes, if the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp located on the vehicle’s rear spoiler is obstructed by equipment, that would be cause to fail the inspection.

11. My 3rd brake light is located on my vehicle’s spoiler. If I remove my spoiler, will I fail inspection?

Yes, if any modifications are made, the vehicle must be equipped with an additional lamp of the same type, which meets all applicable requirements, including the visibility requirements.

12. The Center High Mounted Stop Lamp on my vehicle broke and was re-installed on the bottom of the bumper, will this fail inspection?

Yes, this will be cause to fail inspection. The Center High Mounted Stop Lamp must not be mounted less than 15 inches, nor more than 72 inches.

13. If my camper shell covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will that cause me to fail inspection?

No. A camper shell that covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp will not be cause to fail inspection.

14. If my camper shell comes equipped with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, but covers the vehicle’s Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will that cause me to fail inspection?

No; however, if the camper shell was manufactured with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, it must be operable at the time of inspection.
