  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase patrols on roads beginning this weekend to ensure safe driving this spring break and St. Patrick’s Day. March 9-17, the Texas Highway Patrol (THP) will conduct its annual Spring Break and St. Patrick’s Day traffic enforcement campaign – looking for people who are speeding, not wearing their seat belts, driving while intoxicated or committing other traffic violations.
  • DALLAS – On March 3, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper was patrolling on Frankford Rd near the Dallas North Tollway when the Trooper received an automated license plate reader alert of a vehicle whose registered owner had active felony and misdemeanor warrants.
  • WESLACO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than $83,000 in currency during a recent Operation Lone Star traffic stop in Hidalgo Co.
  • VICTORIA – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is pleased to announce the Victoria Driver License (DL) office is back open, and customers can now schedule appointments online for this office, located at 8802 North Navarro Street, as early as tomorrow, March 4, 2026.

  • AUSTIN – Two of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted are back in custody following their recent arrests. Authorities captured Carl Hegert in Houston on Feb. 18, and Brien Keith Coleman in Waco on Feb. 23. A Crime Stoppers reward will not be paid for either of their arrests.
  • WESLACO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) arrested a confirmed Gulf Cartel member this week in Starr Co. as part of a joint operation with the United States Border Patrol (USBP) during Operation Lone Star.
  • AUSTIN – A Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive wanted for murder is back in custody following his recent capture in Mexico. Elijah Turner Reyes, a documented Piru (Bloods) gang member from El Paso, was detained by Mexican authorities and brought back to the United States late last week. A Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for his arrest.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announces the addition of Jamie Nicholas Wilson – a confirmed Black Gangster Disciple Nations gang member – to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List. Texas Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest. All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.
  • AUSTIN – Former Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrant Jose Miguel Zelaya-Ponce will spend nearly four decades behind bars following his recent sentencing in Harris Co. The now 22-year-old Honduran national was found guilty on enhanced charges of continuous sexual assault of a child and sentenced to 38 years in prison on Jan. 13, 2026.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announces two leadership changes, which were confirmed by the Public Safety Commission (PSC) during its February meeting at DPS Headquarters.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking information in the 1980 murder of 31-year-old Estella Salinas and her 14-year-old son, Andrew Salinas, in Houston. The reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for these murders is now increased to $6,000 if the tip is received before the next featured Texas Rangers cold case is announced. Anyone with information is asked to please come forward.
  • AUSTIN – The Public Safety Commission (PSC), along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Colonel Freeman F. Martin, recognized the service of several Texans at the first PSC meeting of the year yesterday at DPS Headquarters in Austin. PSC Commissioners and Colonel Martin presented two William P. Clements Excellence Awards, one Director’s Citation, five Director’s Awards and five Lifesaving Awards.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is warning about a fake memo circulating online and through media outlets announcing temporary 10-day road closures in the El Paso area. This is a fake memo, and DPS is NOT closing the major highways – or any roads – in or out of the area over the next 10 days.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reminds football fans and anyone out on the roads to drive responsibly during this Super Bowl LX weekend. As the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots compete for the Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 8, DPS will be increasing enforcement efforts statewide to ensure everyone has a safe Super Bowl weekend.
