Keeping Texas Communities Safe

August 11 – September 9, 2025

Keeping Texas Communities Safe is at the heart of what we do at DPS, but we cannot do it alone. That’s why we need you, everyday Texans, to take an active role in protecting our communities.

Here are some simple ways you can make a big impact:

  • iWatchTexas: Download the iWatchTexas app on your mobile device. Then, be prepared to report suspicious activity when you see it in schools and your community. A report takes less than 5 minutes to submit and can stop a variety of bad actors and attacks. We KNOW it saves lives.
  • Be Alert: Be on the lookout for persons or vehicles identified in emergency alerts. Your attention to AMBER, Silver or CLEAR Alerts — could be the reason a family is reunited with their loved one. Make sure alerts are activated on your phones. If you have information, please contact law enforcement immediately. Learn more about DPS’ statewide alert program here.
  • Human Trafficking: Educate yourself on the signs of human trafficking and watch for indicators. You can find a list here. If you see the signs in your community, notify law enforcement. Victims of this horrible crime can be rescued and get the resources they need when WE speak up.
  • Texas 10 Most Wanted: Submit an anonymous tip to Texas Crime Stoppers if you have information that can help take our state’s most dangerous criminals off our streets. Current lists of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders and Criminal Illegal Immigrants are posted online, and cash rewards are available.
  • School Safety: A safer school year starts at home. Talk with your children today about what to do in emergencies at school. Remind them not to talk to strangers or accept rides from people they don’t know. Make sure your school has accurate emergency information, too. Even if you don’t have school-age kids, remember to watch out for kids walking or walking to school. Get a refresher on what to do if you see a stopped school bus. 90 DAYS OF SAFETY CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW:

DPS’ 90 Days of Safety is a three-part campaign, broken down into three 30-day themes, with each theme highlighting different ways the public can take an active role to make Texas a safer place to call home.

  • Keeping Texas Communities Safe
  • Keeping Texas Roads Safe
  • Keeping Texas Families Safe

Throughout the 90 Days of Safety, DPS will share a series of social media content and public service announcement (PSA) video messages from various DPS leaders geared toward educating the public about available public safety resources and actions they can take to make our state safer.
