DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana Seizure

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 150 pounds of marijuana Saturday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.

At approximately 1:56 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2019 Dodge SUV traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation. A DPS canine arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper then discovered multiple plastic-wrapped packages of marijuana and THC oil inside eight large duffel bags.

The driver – Paulette Orona, 50, of Winnetka, California – was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Orona was transported and booked into the Oldham County Jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Winnetka, California to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
