  • This week, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) hosted the inaugural National Top Trooper Competition at the DPS Tactical Training Facility in Florence. Designed to showcase the highest levels of law enforcement excellence, the event brought together Top Troopers from across the country for a week of collaboration, competition and training.
  • The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is increasing patrols statewide as part of its annual All-American enforcement campaign ahead of the Memorial Day Holiday. From May 12 through May 26, the Texas Highway Patrol (THP) will focus on enforcing seatbelt laws and promoting safe driving behaviors to reduce crashes and save lives.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking information on the 2013 murder of 51-year-old Lillian Desiree Descoteau in Harrison Co. The reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for her death is now increased to $6,000 if the tip is received before the next featured Texas Rangers cold case is announced.
  • AUSTIN – A criminal illegal immigrant wanted for sexually abusing a child is this month’s Featured Fugitive. Kevin Galileo Morales Saravia has been added to the 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List and the reward for information leading to his arrest is increased to $4,000 during the month of May if the tip is received this month.
  • AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) proudly announces the graduation of two new K-9 teams and three certified K-9 Tech Trainers, bolstering DPS’ detection and tracking operations. These teams will serve as a critical resource in enhancing public safety, supporting narcotics detection, tracking operations and broader law enforcement efforts across Texas.
  • AUSTIN – The man responsible for sex crimes against two young girls in Texas and Arizona will now spend the rest of his life behind bars. Nearly 40 years after the first of the two crimes was committed, a Rusk Co. Grand Jury gave David Roy Mundt, 62, of Longview, Texas, that sentence last week.
  • AUSTIN – Two of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted are back in custody following their arrests earlier this week. Authorities arrested 10 Most Wanted Fugitive David Rogers and 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Rodolfo Martinez Jr. on April 28 and 29, respectively. A Crime Stoppers reward will not be paid in either case.
  • AUSTIN – This week, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Aircraft Operations Division (AOD) hosted a specialized aircraft public safety training organized by the Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA) at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Flight Services hangar in Austin.
