Two Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders Arrested

March 16, 2015

Mack Houston Jr.

Daniel Carroll Wright

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today announced that two fugitives on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list were captured recently. Daniel Carroll Wright, 58, was arrested on March 12 in Beaumont; and Mack Houston Jr., 53, was apprehended on March 12 in Arkansas.

Working on tip information, DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) agents located and arrested Wright (above left) without incident in Beaumont. The arrest was the result of a tip, and a reward up to $3,000 will be paid. Wright was wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration and parole violation.

Houston (above right) was arrested in Stuttgart, Ark., by members of the Tri-County Task Force, led by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Arkansas. Working with information received from CID, the Task Force located Houston, who was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. The arrest was not the result of a tip, and no reward will be paid.

So far in 2015, DPS and other agencies have arrested eight Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including seven sex offenders and one gang member, and $13,500 in rewards have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.

To be eligible for the cash rewards, there are four different ways to provide anonymous tips:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
  • Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
  • Submit a tip through the DPS mobile app. The app is currently available for iPhone users on the Apple App Store and for Android users on Google Play.

All tips are anonymous – regardless of how they are submitted.

DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives featured in the Texas 10 Most Wanted Program. To view the current lists – with photos – visit the DPS website.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
