AUSTIN – Agapito Salinas, 45, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, is now in custody after being captured June 8 in Alma, Ga. Salinas, a confirmed Texas Syndicate gang member, was wanted for parole violation. The arrest was not the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, and no reward will be paid.
Working off investigative information, members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Georgia took Salinas into custody. The Bacon County Sheriff's Office and Appling County Sheriff's Office assisted in the apprehension. The investigation resulting in Salinas' arrest was a multi-agency effort that also involved members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents from Brownsville.
Salinas had been wanted since April 2015. In 2003, Salinas was convicted in Dallas County of aggravated robbery and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. So far in 2017, DPS and other agencies have arrested 13 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including seven sex offenders and six gang members, and $35,500 in rewards have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.
To be eligible for the cash rewards, tipsters MUST provide information to authorities using one of the three following methods:
- Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
- Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
- Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the "SUBMIT A TIP" link (under the "About" section).
All tips are anonymous – regardless of how they are submitted – and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Sex Offender lists. You can find the current lists – with photos – on the DPS website.
Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
