AUSTIN – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw today issued the following statement regarding Memorial Day:
“Since the birth of this great nation, extraordinary men and women have answered the call of duty to protect and serve the United States of America at home and abroad. It is because of their selfless service and bravery that we are blessed with the freedoms and security so rare in this world.
“On Memorial Day, we remember and honor all members of the military who have selflessly pledged their lives to this country, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. These courageous warriors will always be remembered – we carry their legacy with us every day.
“Today, we are also solemnly reminded of the military families who have endured so much in their unwavering dedication to loving and supporting their service member, no matter the cost. We are grateful for their exceptional bravery and strength.
“At the Texas Department of Public Safety, we appreciate the courage and commitment it takes to live a life of service and sacrifice, and we honor all those who have ever taken an oath to serve and protect others and have willingly stepped toward danger to keep this nation safe.”
