LAREDO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 50 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on April 28, in Webb County.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a green 2006 Jeep traveling east on Mangana Hein for a traffic violation. The vehicle refused to stop and began to evade. The vehicle traveled on Cadena Street in El Cenizo and drove into the Rio Grande River. After extracting the vehicle from the water, a vehicle search revealed two wrapped bundles of marijuana concealed inside. The driver, Edward Espinoza, 19, was charged with Possession of Marijuana and booked into the Webb County Jail.
