DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine Seizure

WESLACO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 8 kilos, the equivalent of more than 17 pounds, of methamphetamine on Wednesday, July 11, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Webb County – Laredo.

At approximately 3 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2008 Grey Nissan Sentra on U.S. Highway 59 near the intersection of Bob Bullock Loop for a traffic violation. Troopers subsequently discovered six bundles of methamphetamine, worth more than $700,000, located inside the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance — a first degree felony. The suspect was transported and booked into the Webb County Jail.

This case remains under investigation.
