EDNA – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 32 kilograms of cocaine on Tuesday after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Jackson County.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., a DPS Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a 2013 Chevy Malibu traveling northbound on US 59 near Edna for a traffic violation. A Wharton County canine was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper discovered 32 bundles of cocaine, each weighing one kilogram.
The driver, Jaime Gomez, 54, of Houston, was arrested and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance more than 400 grams.
