DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure in Goliad

DPS seized approximately 143 pounds of Marijuana

GOLIAD – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized approximately 143 pounds of Marijuana on August 4 after a traffic stop.

At approximately 8:28 a.m., a DPS Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a 2018 Ford Fusion on U.S. Hwy 59 for a traffic violation. Due to indications of criminal activity, the Trooper obtained consent and searched the vehicle.

As a result, the Trooper discovered five large bundles containing marijuana that weighed approximately 143 pounds.

The driver, Miguel Angel Valadez, 27, of Laredo, Texas, was arrested and charged with delivery of marijuana greater than 50 lbs. less than 2,000 lbs. Valadez was transported to the Goliad County Jail and booked without incident.
