DPS Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Seizure

LAREDO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 19 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Friday, September 4, in Webb County.

At approximately 7:12 am, a DPS trooper stopped a white Pontiac passenger car traveling north on Interstate Highway 35 near mile marker 26, for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered two taped–wrapped bundles of methamphetamine concealed within the floor portion of the vehicle.

The driver, Maria De La Luz Jaramillo, 20, of Laredo, Texas, was arrested and charged with felony possession of controlled substance, and was booked into the Webb County Jail. DPS Criminal Investigation Division is further investigating this case.
