DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Cash Seizure

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 171 pounds of marijuana, 44 pounds of THC wax and over $4000 in cash Sunday, May 5, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 3:08 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2018 Ford F-250 traveling east on I-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. A Gray County Sheriff’s Office canine unit arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper then discovered duffel bags containing marijuana and THC wax in the truck bed. The Trooper also discovered cash inside an ice chest on the front seat.

The driver – Paul Hernandez, 48, of Milford, Pennsylvania – was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of a controlled substance and money laundering. Hernandez was transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Sacramento, California to Milford, Pennsylvania.
