DPS Discovers Meth Concealed in Spare Tire

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized close to 13 pounds of methamphetamine Wednesday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.

At approximately 3:38 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2018 Toyota Rav4 traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered nine taped-wrapped bundles of methamphetamine concealed inside the spare tire.

DPS Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. DEA Special Agents adopted the case.

The driver – Teodulo Quintero, 58, of North Hills, California – was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Teodulo was transported and booked into the Randall County Jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Los Angeles to Bentonville, Arkansas.
