AMARILLO - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized nearly 36 pounds of methamphetamine October 3, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 11:57 a.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2007 Mercedes GL450 traveling east on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation.  The Trooper then discovered multiple bundles of methamphetamine concealed inside both backseat quarter panels of the vehicle.

The driver, Esmervi Carone-Rodriguez, 35, of Louisville, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.  Carone-Rodriguez was transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.  DPS Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents were contacted to assist with the case.
