In Case You Missed It: Two Brothers Serve in the Texas Rangers

February 25, 2016

AUSTIN – On Wednesday a television news segment broadcast by the Dallas-Fort Worth NBC affiliate, KXAS, showcased two brothers – Jake and Josh Burson – who currently are Texas Rangers. The Burson brothers are believed to be the first pair of brothers to simultaneously serve as Texas Rangers since the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was formed in 1935.

The Texas Rangers are the oldest law enforcement organization in North America with statewide jurisdiction.

“The cornerstone of the Texas Rangers’ longevity and success has always been the outstanding men and women, who have committed themselves to serving the people of Texas with honor and integrity,” said Texas Ranger Chief Randy Prince. “We are proud to have the Burson brothers serve among our ranks as we continue our mission of protecting the residents of this state.”

Like all Texas Rangers, the brothers began their DPS careers as Highway Patrol Troopers. They then promoted to the DPS Criminal Investigations Division before becoming Texas Rangers. Ranger Jake Burson is stationed in Waco; and Ranger Josh Burson is stationed in Lubbock.
