1. When will Bexar County emission inspection testing go into effect?

Bexar County will begin emission inspections on Nov 1st, 2026.

4. Do I need proof of inspection at the DMV to obtain my vehicle registration?

Yes, a passing emission inspection is required for registration of gasoline powered vehicles 2-24 years old in Bexar County.

5. If my vehicle fails the initial inspection, do I have to pay for another inspection?

If your vehicle fails the initial inspection, have the item(s) that failed repaired and take your vehicle back to the inspection station that originally performed the inspection within 15 days for a free re-test. If you choose not to take it back to the station that originally performed the inspection, or should you present the vehicle after the 15 days, then your vehicle is no longer eligible for the free re-test, and you must pay the inspection fee again to have your vehicle inspected.

Inspection Station Information

1. Will I get my old license number back?

No, all safety only licenses expired on December 31, 2024, and are no longer valid. Both stations and inspectors must apply and be approved for a new license in order to conduct vehicle inspections. 

2. My business address is not considered Bexar County, but is less than a 10th of a mile from Bexar County, am I eligible for a station license?

No.  Only businesses with a Bexar County address are eligible to become a certified emissions station. 

3. What is a Static IP Address, do I need one, and who do I obtain one from?
