Astrid Smith

I took my mother up to the Carrollton Mega Center yesterday so she, at age 94, could surrender her driver license and apply for a Texas ID card. I had made the appointment about six months ago, so we could go at a time of day when mom is most awake at 2 pm. The staff at the Carrollton center could not have been nicer, more helpful, or more professional. I am sorry that I did not get the names of the two ladies at the front. One was standing outside the doors, answering questions and she let us right in, with me pushing mom in a wheelchair. Then the lady at the front tables was so quick and efficient in checking to be sure I had brought all the proper documents. Both ladies were dealing with a crowd of people and yet they were calm, friendly, and professional. Once inside, we were handed off to another very helpful lady who made sure we knew where to wait and which station we were in line for. When it came time to move to the desk, this lady nicely moving things around so that mom’s wheelchair would fit in front of the camera, and she cleaned and wiped down everything we might touch. We felt taken care of and safe. Astrid Smith was the lady who helped mom apply for the ID card. She is terrific! She explained each step of the process to mom, was exemplary in dealing with an elderly person and making mom comfortable while perfectly executing a precise procedure. We are so appreciative! Ms. Smith then walked us out and held the doors so the wheelchair could navigate through. At all times we felt safe from Covid and that we were being treated with respect and kindness, and professionalism. It could not have been a better experience.
