I had my four year old son, and six year old daughter with me, as soon as the Troopers lights turned on and I stated out loud “I’m getting pulled over!” , my daughter burst in to tears because she thought we we’re going to be taken to jail, as I’m trying to calm her and explain to her the process, Trooper Weller approaches my vehicle and immediately acknowledges my children and asks them what’s wrong, and begins calming them down, he asked why my daughter is crying, and my son exclaims “She’s afraid you’re going to take our dad to jail!!” Of course, he and I chuckled, and he calms them by explaining to them, that I won’t be going to jail, I was just merely speeding. He takes my info back to his patrol car and returns and immediately hands the kids Junior Trooper stickers and calms them even more and is making them laugh. As he hands me the warning, he again acknowledges my children as he retreats to his patrol car. Within 30 seconds my four-year-old exclaims to us “ I want to be a police officer” as a son of a LEO, who was also a son of a LEO it brought a lot of pride to my heart, and I know my Papaw, and Father were ecstatic from above! More than anything, Trooper Weller brought an extreme comfort to my children, and regardless of how the ticket/warning situation would have turned out, I would have drove away with a happy heart.
