Congratulations

Congratulations to the new examiners of Class 34 who graduated from the Texas Department of Public Safety Law Enforcement Polygraph School on November 15, 2024.

Special congratulations also to Class 34 students Jamie George and Suzannahe Smith.  Jamie George was awarded the DPS Director's Award for highest class GPA, and Suzannahe Smith was awarded the School Director's Award for overall outstanding student.  

Application Window

The Texas Department of Public Safety has closed the application period for the Fall 2025 Basic Polygraph Examiner Course.

Applications received at this time will be considered for the Spring 2026 Basic Polygraph Examiner Course, scheduled for January 5, 2026.  The application window closes on October 17, 2025. 

Tuition

Tuition for the Basic Polygraph Examiner Course is $5,000 per student.  This fee does not include meals or lodging.

Application Process

To be considered for the Basic Polygraph Examiners Course, applicants must:

  • Complete and submit a Texas DPS Polygraph School Application;
  • Be a US citizen;
  • Have no convictions for a felony offense or a misdemeanor offense of moral turpitude;
  • Be a full-time employee of the law enforcement agency sponsoring the student; and
  • Have at least five years of law enforcement investigative experience or a four-year degree from a university.
