Sergeant Paul Mooney

On June 14, 2021, Sgt. Paul Mooney died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
Sgt. Mooney began his career with DPS on September 26, 2008, after retiring from the U.S Army as a First Sergeant. He was stationed in El Paso, TX as a Field Recruiting Sergeant at the time of his death.
He is survived by his seven children and six grandchildren. He is the 224th DPS officer to die in the line of duty since 1823.
