Highway Patrolman H.D. Murphy
September 18, 1933 - April 1, 1934
Patrolmen Murphy was shot to death near Grapevine on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1934 by the infamous criminals Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. He stopped his motorcycle near Parker and Barrow's car, thinking a motorist needed assistance. When he approached, he was shot. He began his career with the agency on September 18, 1933, and was stationed at Fort Worth.
