Eric Rene RUIZ, affiliated with the Surenos Trece (SUR-13) gang in Corpus Christi, was taken into custody on March 27, 2018, following a traffic stop by the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD).In 2007, RUIZ was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault (Attempt to Commit) after an incident in Nueces County involving a 44-year-old woman. He subsequently was sentenced to five years in TDCJ prison. In 2014, RUIZ was convicted for violating his duty to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years in TDJC prison.RUIZ had been wanted since October 2017 after a warrant was issued by the Corpus Christi Police Department for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.The arrest was not the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
