Corey GARRETT, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was arrested on October 18, 2022, in Abilene, Texas. Working off investigative information, DPS Special Agents, with the assistance of the Abilene Police Department, located and arrested GARRETT.In 1997, GARRETT was convicted of Sexual Assault of a Child after an incident involving a 16-year-old girl. He subsequently received ten years’ probation. The following year, his probation was revoked and he was sentenced to ten years’ confinement. In 2014, he was convicted of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements and was sentenced to two years of confinement. In 2019, he was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance and sentenced to one year of confinement. He was subsequently discharged from TDCJ prison in July 2020.GARRETT had been wanted since June 2022, after the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for GARRETT’s arrest for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.GARRETT’s arrest was not from tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
