Cecil Colby SMITH, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was captured on April 1, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. Working off tip information, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents, located and arrested SMITH at a residence. The Fort Worth Police Department and TDCJ-Office of Inspector General (OIG) assisted in this fugitive investigation.In 2002, SMITH was convicted of Violation of a Protective Order/Assault/Stalking and was given four years' probation. In 2003, he was convicted of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Sexual Assault of a Child after incidents involving a 13-year-old girl. He received three 5-year sentences in TDCJ. In 2011, he was convicted of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and received two 8-year sentences. He was discharged from TDCJ in 2017.SMITH had been wanted since December 2021 after a warrant was issued out of Dallas County for his arrest for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.SMITH’s arrest was the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so a reward will be paid.
