Marcus Lee TORRES, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was captured on May 7, 2021, in Snyder, Texas. Responding to a call of a suspicious person, officers with the Snyder Police Department located and apprehended TORRES on a residential street following a short foot pursuit. In 1998, TORRES was convicted in Nolan County of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault after he sexually assaulted two boys, ages 7 and 9. TORRES subsequently received two 30-year concurrent sentences in a TDCJ prison. TORRES was released from a TDCJ facility in Pampa, Texas, on January 30, 2020. He was equipped with an electronic ankle monitor device and instructed to report to his parole officer in El Paso where he would then reside in a halfway house. However, TORRES cut off his ankle monitor prior to arriving in El Paso and absconded.TORRES had been wanted since January 30, 2020, after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a Parole Violation warrant for his arrest. An additional warrant for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements was issued by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in April 2020.The arrest was not from tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
