Leroy LEWIS, Jr., a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was captured on June 24, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Working off investigative information, Texas DPS Special Agents assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center, along with members of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), Houston Police Department Southeast Crime Suppression Team, and Office of the Attorney General Fugitive Apprehension Unit, located and arrested LEWIS at a residence on the south side of Houston. In the 1990s, LEWIS was convicted of Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Kidnapping. The kidnapping involved a 20-year-old female victim in which LEWIS intended to sexually abuse. He subsequently received a sentence of 35 years confinement. In 2012, LEWIS was released on parole from TDCJ and required to register as a sex offender. LEWIS had been wanted since March 2026, after a warrant was issued out of Harris County for his arrest for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements. LEWIS’ arrest was not the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
