DETAILS:

Yuhuai Yan was a 26-year-old hard-working student. Yan came to America from China in 1997 and was attending the University of Texas-San Antonio. On February 2, 2000, Yan’s body was found in a brushy area near Interstate 10 in rural Gillespie County, several miles past Kerrville. He had been shot to death. A Texas Ranger worked with the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) to investigate this case. Hyun “Jordan” Hong emerged as a suspect, with the possible motive being a dispute over money. Ultimately, the case stalled. In 2017, the Texas Rangers and GCSO reinvestigated this case. In December 2019, Hyun “Jordan” Hong was indicted for the murder of Yuhuai Yan. On December 3, 2019, Rangers and GCSO arrested Hong in Wilson County.

Trial is pending. All persons are presumed innocent until conviction.
