DETAILS:

On May 1st 2006, the body of Joseph Douglas, 21, was found in a rural field in Rusk County. Douglas was the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. In 2017 this case was adopted into the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crime Investigation Program. Working with the local agency, witnesses and potential suspects were re–interviewed. On September 21, 2017 Jarret Murray, a former roommate of the victim was arrested and subsequently indicted for this murder.

Update: On January 18, 2019 Jarret Murray pled guilty to murdering Joseph Douglas, was convicted, and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
