DETAILS:

On 01/31/1990, Unidentified Human Remains were found in Crane County. The remains were determined to be an unknown race, Female with and age range of 16-21 years old. DNA was obtained from the remains and entered into the DNA database, but no matches have been made. A facial reconstruction was completed by the Texas Rangers Forensic Artist. Investigators have not given up hope in giving this person her name back. If you have any information, please submit a tip. UPDATE: In 2023, Texas Rangers assisted Odessa Police Department in this investigation. The previously unidentified human remains found are confirmed to be those of Maria Mendez, of Odessa, Texas. This investigation into the death of Mendez continues.
