DETAILS:

On 07/28/1985, Penny Sue Portwood was traveling with her 7 year old son from Florida to California for a fresh start. Penny stopped at the Quality Inn in Van Horn for the night. Penny spent the evening socializing with players in a baseball tournament that were staying at the hotel.

When Penny failed to return to the hotel room, Authorities were notified and began an investigation. Penny's vehicle was located in a drainage ditch and her body was found partially nude a distance away.

It was apparent Penny was the victim of a vicious attack and sexual assault.

Texas Rangers and Culberson County Sheriff's Department have not stopped investigation to find justice for Penny and her son.
