DETAILS:

On July 15, 1997, Kelli Cox toured the local jail in Denton. She walked to her car, parked nearby, and found that the doors were locked. She called her boyfriend to help her. That was the last time anybody heard from Kelli. She had been abducted.

In 2015 this case was adopted into the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crime Investigation Program (Cold Case). The Ranger worked closely with other law enforcement agencies and prosecutors involved in the investigation. Kelli's remains have been recovered.

Suspected serial killer William Reece was indicted in Brazoria County on December 14, 2017, for the Capital Murder of Kelli Cox. A trial date is pending.

Persons arrested for a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty.
