DETAILS:

On 09-19-1992, the body of Eglena Diaz Deleon, 15 years of age, was located inside the courtyard of a local church in Seguin, Texas. Eglena was attending the annual Fiestas Patrias Deiz y Seis celebration with a cousin. An autopsy determined Eglena died the result of strangulation and a stab wound to the throat.
On 03-01-2002, the Texas Rangers assisted the Seguin Police Department in the re-investigation of this case. DNA evidence linked Guadalupe Chino Sandoval Jr. to the commission of the murder. On 03-10-2003, a Guadalupe County Jury found Sandoval guilty of the murder. On 03-17-2003, Sandoval was sentenced to 75 years in prison.
