Working off investigative information, members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents, located and arrested CARDENAS at a residence. In March 2019, CARDENAS was convicted in Webb County of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and subsequently sentenced to 2 years’ confinement in a TDCJ prison. Additionally, the Laredo Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest on September 11, 2020, for Evading Arrest/Detention. A month later, on October 13, 2020, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office issued three felony arrest warrants for Probation Violation. CARDENAS is affiliated with the El Cuatro gang in Laredo.
