DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 347 pounds of assorted THC products and five pounds of marijuana Tuesday, Feb. 26, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.

At approximately 3:13 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2018 Kia Optima traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation. The Oldham County Sheriff's Office canine unit arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper then discovered numerous THC products and plastic bags of marijuana in the trunk and interior of the vehicle.

The driver – Darwin Booth, 34, of Troutman, North Carolina – was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Booth was transported and booked into the Oldham County Jail. The drugs allegedly were being transported from California to North Carolina.
