How do I request assistance?
Governor Greg Abbott requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration for areas of Texas affected by severe weather from October 22-31, 2015. On Wednesday, November 25, the president granted this request for funds to assist in recovery.

Individual Assistance is Available for 16 Counties
Individual assistance provides affected residents and businesses with access to disaster housing, disaster grants, low-interest disaster loans, and other disaster aid programs including crisis counseling, disaster-related unemployment assistance, legal aid and assistance with income tax, Social Security and Veteran’s benefits.

Individual Assistance (IA) is available for the following counties:
Bastrop Brazoria Caldwell Cameron
Comal Galveston Guadalupe Hardin
Harris Hays Hidalgo Liberty
Navarro Travis Willacy Wilson

Public Assistance Is Available For 17 Counties
Public Assistance is aid to state or local governments to pay part of the costs of rebuilding a community's damaged infrastructure, which may include debris removal, emergency protective measures and public services, repair of damaged public property, loans needed by communities for essential government functions and grants for public schools.

Public assistance (PA) is available for the following counties:

Guadalupe Hays Hidalgo Hill
Jasper Liberty Navarro Newton
Smith Travis Walker Willacy

  1. Continue to track costs.
  2. Continue to document damages.
  3. Be ready to schedule applicant briefings with TDEM Recovery.
  4. Be ready to write project worksheets for Category A and B damages.
