Jose Mario LOPEZ, added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list on March 28, 2017, was captured in Winter Haven, Florida, on April 17, 2017.
In 1983, LOPEZ was convicted of Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit a Sex Offense after an incident in San Patricio County involving a 15-year-old girl. He subsequently received a 70-year sentence in TDCJ prison.
In February 2015, LOPEZ was released on parole and required to register as a sex offender. In November 2016, he moved from a transitional living facility in El Paso to an alternate housing residence in Houston. In January 2017, LOPEZ absconded from his alternate housing residence in Houston after he knowingly and intentionally cut off his ankle monitor he was required to wear.
On January 12, 2017, a parole violation warrant for LOPEZ's arrest was issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. On February 10, 2017, the El Paso County SO issued an additional warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
