Cruz Alfredo BAZAN, added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list in May 2015, was detained by federal police in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on October 18, 2016. Mexican immigration determined BAZAN had no legal status to remain in Mexico. U.S. authorities, including the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), met Mexican authorities at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, where BAZAN was turned over to the custody of the U.S. authorities.
BAZAN is a convicted sex offender required to register annually for life. In June 2012, he was convicted of Sexual Assault of a Child after an incident in Cameron County involving a 15-year-old female.
On August 13, 2014, the Cameron County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for BAZAN's arrest for Probation Violation. On August 27, 2014, the Harlingen Police Department issued a warrant for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements.
