Pursuant to Senate Bill 616 (86th Legislative Session), Texas Health and Safety Code (HSC) Chapter 481 has been amended to repeal the requirement to register with the Department of Public Safety as a peyote distributor. Therefore, effective September 1, 2019, the department will no longer register peyote distributors. The provisions of HSC Chapter 481 relating to peyote, including its possession and distribution, remain intact. This change does not in any way alter applicable federal law or the requirement to register with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
The Department of Public Safety's administrative rules governing peyote distributors, Title 37, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 13, Subchapter C, are being repealed.
