State Retirement Benefits - a defined benefit pension plan. Starting the first day of employment, mandatory 9.5% of your monthly salary is deducted pre-tax and deposited into your personal state retirement account. Employees Retirement System (ERS) website:

401(k) / 457 Program – a voluntary deferred compensation program. Employee is automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Plan at 1% of your salary (you can choose to increase percentage).

State-paid Health and Life Insurance Plans for you/employee. Insurance becomes effective the first day of the month following the 60-day waiting period. (Hourly and Part-time employees, State-paid at 50%).
