AUSTIN – Robert Bryan Chrismon, 54, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after being captured on November 10 in West Hollywood, Calif. Chrismon was wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements and parole violation. The arrest was not the result of a tip, and no reward will be paid.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department took Chrismon into custody without incident after a traffic stop. He had been wanted since September 2012. For more information, see his captured bulletin at: www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/SexOffenderDetails.aspx?id=250.
In 1981, Chrismon was sentenced to 55 years for the kidnapping and aggravated rape of a San Antonio teen. He received an additional 10 years for the attempted stabbing of a Corpus Christi police officer during an arrest.
So far in 2016, DPS and other agencies have arrested 20 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including 13 sex offenders and eight gang members, and $42,500 in rewards have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.
To be eligible for the cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of the five following methods:
All tips are anonymous – regardless of how they are submitted, and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Sex Offender lists. You can find the current lists – with photos – on the DPS website at http://www.dps.texas.gov/texas10mostwanted/.
Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
