Statement by DPS Director McCraw on Memorial Day

AUSTIN – Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw today issued the following statement regarding Memorial Day:

“For more than 200 years, extraordinary men and women have fearlessly committed their lives to the United States military, creating a rich heritage of defending this great country and protecting freedom at home and abroad.

“Memorial Day is a time for Americans to remember and honor all the military members who have answered the call of duty to serve this nation – especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their selfless actions ensured our freedoms, and they will never be forgotten.

“Let us also remember the families, who support and love their service members in the face of great sacrifice. Being in a military family demands incredible strength and commitment, and we are eternally grateful for their continued dedication and sacrifice.

“At the Texas Department of Public Safety, we understand that protecting and serving others is a unique calling, and we honor all the patriots – past, present and future – who put their lives on the line to defend the United States of America.”
