   Who must register?

A person who delivers peyote, the distributor, must submit an application for a controlled substances registration to the director under the Texas Health and Safety Code, Act 481, and the Texas Administrative Code, Subchapter C, Peyote.

A person who holds a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License as a Peyote Distributor and who is in compliance with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 13 Controlled Substances, Subchapter C, Peyote Distributors, §13.37 Security.


   To be a distributor of Peyote, do I have to register with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)?

Yes, to be a distributor of Peyote you have to register with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). You need to have the DEA license prior to registering with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).


    How do I get an application to be a Peyote Distributor?

For an application to be a Peyote Distributor, contact the Texas Department of Public Safety, Regulatory Services Division to send a request via email.


   Is there a fee?

There is no fee for this registration.


   How long is the Peyote certificate valid?

In Texas, the Peyote certificate is valid for one year. It can be renewed annually.


   Do inspections and or audits take place?

Yes, inspections take place prior to issuance of a new DPS certificate number and as determined by the director through the Texas Administrative Code, Subchapter C, Peyote.
